The City of Kilgore on July 07, 2017, awarded Pilgrim its long-awaited Certificate of Occupancy for the new Parish Hall with Sunday School Classrooms. At the precise moment that the Certificate was awarded, the parking lot was not yet completed, but City officials were confident that it would be and that the congregation would not “occupy” the building until it was. An Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) inspection was also yet to be completed, but the congregation was set to begin using the building after its dedication, set for the end of the regular Divine Service on Sunday, July 16, 2017. Vacation Bible School (VBS) that evening and the four following evenings would prove to be the first uses of the new Parish Hall. Sunday morning Refreshments, Adult Bible Class, and Sunday School would be in it before the Divine Service on Sunday, July 23, and after the Service there would be a covered-dish meal and Voters’ Meeting. The meal included the usual honoring of the High School graduates that would have taken place at the annual picnic that in 2017 was combined with the Voters’ meal.
